This Lesser-Known Airline Is The Most Reliable For American Travelers Right Now

Travelers tend to stick to familiar names when traveling unless there is an incentive. Why take an airline you have never heard of when your last flight went smoothly?

Delta, United, and American may typically be U.S. travelers' go-to carriers because of their massive network.

However, some travelers looking to save a buck may dabble in low-cost airlines, such as Spirit. None of the above are terrible options, but one lesser-known airline is taking the flight industry by storm.

Standing out above the rest in terms of reliability, this relatively new airline is American travelers' best bet to reach their destination during this super busy holiday season.

Avelo Is America's Most Reliable Airline Right Now

Avelo may not come to mind when searching for flights, but it should from now on. Since its debut in 2021, this airline has been gaining popularity each year.

In fact, compared to last year, the airline expects a 65% increase in loyal passengers in the coming months as hordes of travelers take to the skies.

“This holiday season will be Avelo's busiest since taking flight in 2021. And our planes are fuller than ever. We know our Customers are counting on us to get them and their bags to their Thanksgiving gatherings this week. Which is why we are so proud to head into this busy travel period as the industry's most reliable airline.”

Andrew Levy, Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO

The Numbers Back It Up

When faced with fierce competition, sometimes the numbers presented can be inflated to look superior to others.

That's not the case with Avelo. Their claim that 82.8% of flights arrive within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival time from January to October is backed up by the Department of Transportation (DOT).

Not only that, they rarely cancel flights. Competitors are canceling at least 1.5% of all flights, while Avelo is holding strong with less than 1%.

See a pattern here? Avelo stands out amongst the rest by making sure you reach your destination unless something truly unforeseen comes up.

No matter the airline, no one holds a perfect record. Going beyond frustrating delays and even more frustrating cancellations, we all dread losing a bag.

What a nightmare that can be! On average, Avelo only lost 3 bags per 1000 this year, while other airlines averaged at least 7 bags using the same metric.

It's easy to see why Avelo's purpose is to “Inspire Travel”, as they provide a top-notch experience across the board alleviating many common frustrations that come with flying.

Avelo passengers can even change or cancel plans with no additional fees, a unicorn in today's travel industry.

Is Avelo At Your Home Airport?

Avelo is incredibly reliable and convenient, but that doesn't do much good if you can't fly with them. The airline has seen steady growth and expanded its network since its inception.

The airline proudly serves over 40 destinations in 23 states, plus Puerto Rico, with a fleet of Boeing 737s.

Some of their hubs are a little wonky, yet still accessible. For example, the airline doesn't fly out of mega airport, LAX but does fly from nearby Los Angeles' Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR).

They don't fly from Philadelphia but do fly from nearby Wilmington, Delaware. It's best to take a look at their route map to see if a secondary airport is close to you.

While they do fly to some major airports, their bread and butter is catering to ‘unserved routes' with at least one airport on your Avelo itinerary being small with lesser traffic.

According to their official website, these are their 6 most popular hubs:

  • Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO)
  • Wilmington Airport (ILG)
  • Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR)
  • Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU)
  • Harry Reid International Airport  (LAS)
