Arizona is a stunning state full of a huge variety of interesting places to visit! From meteor craters to hot springs, here are the top 10 places you’ll want to check out in the northern part of the state.
1. Devil's Bridge
See the largest natural sandstone arch in the Sedona area with a visit to Devil’s Bridge! Checking out this iconic, Instagram-worthy spot will require a bit of a hike. The trail itself is only 1.8 miles long, however, parking is generally limited. This can end up adding additional length to the hike, so if you do go, you’ll want to bring plenty of water and make sure the additional time that may be needed is accounted for!
2. Sedona, Arizona
Sedona, Arizona is a gorgeous area known for its stunning scenery – especially its red rock formations. The town is also home to a variety of unique boutiques, eateries, and some wine tasting rooms, making this a great option for anyone!
3. Lake Powell
Lake Powell is a man-made reservoir famous for being the perfect spot for all sorts of outdoor recreation! Relax or take a dip at the lake’s beach. In addition, you can also go boating – either with your own boat or by renting a boat – at one of the marinas. If you’re looking for the full waterfront experience, you can even consider renting a houseboat!
4. Tonto Natural Bridge
Another iconic natural bridge in Arizona, Tonto Natural Bridge is one of the world’s largest travertine bridges. You can experience the bridge for yourself with a trip to Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, located in Gila County.
5. Arcosanti

7. El Dorado Hot Springs
As summer turns into fall and the heat begins to cool off in Arizona, you may want to consider checking out El Dorado Hot Springs. These rustic springs have a public and private area, as well as offering overnight accommodations. They are currently open to the public, with the option to make reservations ahead of time.
8. Sunset Crater
See an ancient volcanic crater up close with a visit to Sunset Crater. Located near Wupatki National Monument, you can look forward to viewing the ancient cinder cone volcano as well as checking out the nearby trails. 9. Hoover Dam
The Hoover Dam straddles the border of Arizona and Nevada, and was originally built during the Great Depression. Additionally, you can visit the dam by yourself, or on a guided tour if you’re looking to learn more about the history of the structure.
10. Canyon de Chelly
This area was historically one of the longest continually inhabited sites in the United States. You can see the historic spot, along with various ruins and stunning rock formations, for yourself with a visit to Canyon De Chelly National Monument. You can experience the area in a variety of ways, including driving, checking out various lookout points, or a guided tour.

Hoover dam is a sight to be seen, especially now that the water level is so low on the lake - really puts the severity of the drought into perspective; but it sits at the border of Nevada and Arizona 😀
