The eastern United States has much to offer in the autumn. Besides the stunning fall foliage, you have historical sites and many outdoor activities.
Drive in Lovely New Hampshire
You can have a lovely fall getaway in New Hampshire driving along the Kancamagus Highway. You begin your journey in Conway and follow the Kancamagus Highway drive to the town of Bath. This 56 mile trip takes you through White Mountain National Forest. While at the forest you can spend time on the hiking trails, scenic overlooks, and beautiful ponds.
Follow the Mohawk Trail in Massachusetts
Spend some time in New England and drive the legendary Mohawk Trail. You begin in Williamstown and drive 63 miles along Route 2 to Greenfield. Along the way, you will see the stunning views of the Hoosac Range and pass many beautiful state parks including Western Gateway Heritage State Park and Natural Bridge State Park. For historians, the Norman Rockwell Museum is a great place to see 1,000 works of the renowned artist.
Navigate the Lovely Blue Ridge Parkway

The Superior National Forest is also located nearby and is a nice little detour from the route.

You can also visit Ephraim, which is a quaint, Scandinavian- style village.

You begin and your journey in St. Ignace, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. This drive will take you on a ferry and through many beautiful natural and historical sites including the beautiful, nature filled Drummond Island and Michigan’s oldest city, and wonderful year round destination Sault Ste. Marie.
