Here are the ten best sunny destinations for Americans this winter and the current COVID-19 restrictions.
10. Tahiti
Tahiti is the ultimate tropical paradise for Americans this winter. What's more, Tahiti is the largest island in French Polynesia, and the island includes vast beaches, waterfalls, lagoons, and two extinct volcanoes. Visitors love the land tours, surfing opportunities, and scuba diving options.
Fully vaccinated Americans can enter Tahiti without quarantine. However, travelers will need a receipt from the ETIS platform, a negative PCR test 72 hours before arrival, and full proof of vaccination.
9. The Bahamas
The Bahamas are an excellent winter escape for Americans this winter. The notorious islands offer pristine white sand beaches, a fascinating pirate history, the famous swimming pigs of Exuma, and the site of the first landing of Christopher Colombus.
Fully vaccinated Americans can enter the Bahamas, but they will need to obtain a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than five days before departure. Unvaccinated travelers will need to provide evidence of a negative PCR test (swab) within five days of departure and the result must be negative to enter.
8. Belize
Belize is a superb central American winter destination for Americans because it offers the incredible Belize Barrier Reef, the Green Blue Hole, and Caya Caulker. What’s more, Belize is notorious for its incredible Mayan Ruins and its biodiverse jungle.
Americans can enter Belize this winter if they provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test with 96 hours of departure or a Rapid Antigen Test within 48 hours of departure.
7. Costa Rica
Costa Rica is becoming an incredibly popular travel destination with Americans because of its world-class surfing and gorgeous tropical weather. Visitors love river rafting, cave tubing, zip-lining, and canyoning opportunities throughout Costa Rica.
Fully vaccinated travelers can enter Costa Rica without obtaining a travel policy. Moreover, American travelers don’t need to present evidence of a negative PCR test upon arrival.
6. Dubai (UAE)
Dubai is one of the world’s most luxurious cities and an excellent destination for U.S travelers this winter. Temperatures are much cooler than the summer, offering excellent beach weather. The city is known for luxury shopping, modern skyscrapers, and endless luxury resorts.
Dubai is open to vaccinated and unvaccinated Americans this winter. However, entry requirements differ slightly depending on where you land. But you’ll need a 72-hour negative PCR test on entry.
5. Aruba
Do you fancy a Caribbean getaway this winter? You shouldn’t look further than Aruba. The island is well-known for its stunning blonde beaches, desert landscapes, and some of the best scuba diving in the Caribbean.
Americans can enter Aruba this winter if they can provide a 72-hour negative PCR test upon arrival.
4. Jamaica
Jamaica is an excellent destination for Americans this winter because of its incredible hikes, Blue Mountain coffee, Jamaican Rum, Red Stripe beer, luxury all-inclusive resorts, stunning beaches, and incredible waterfalls. The island is also home to the birthplace of reggae.
Americans can enter Jamaica this winter if they can provide evidence of a 72-hour negative COVID-19 test. However, all travelers entering Jamaica are currently subject to quarantine requirements depending on whether they want to stay outside the tourism corridor.
3. Hawaii
Sometimes staying in your home country is the best option, and Hawaii offers an excellent domestic destination for U.S travelers this winter. The state is fantastic if you’re looking to escape the cold mornings, go hiking, surf, and enjoy an outdoor lifestyle.
Americans from outside Hawaii can enter the state this winter if they are fully vaccinated. If U.S travelers are unvaccinated, they must provide a 72-hour negative COVID-19 PCR test.
2. The Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic is an excellent winter destination that’s famous for Spanish colonial architecture, outstanding beaches, outdoor adventures, and stunning wildlife. The nation is also home to Santo Domingo, one of the Caribbean’s bustling capital cities.
Fully vaccinated and unvaccinated Americans can enter the Dominican Republic this winter without taking a negative PCR test before arrival.

When most of the world closed to Americans, Mexico remained open. The nation is the ultimate winter getaway for U.S travelers this winter because it’s hot, beautiful, and relatively restriction-free. Popular destinations include Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, and Puerto Vallarta.
Americans can enter Mexico this winter without providing proof of vaccination. It’s the closest and easiest destination to visit for all Americans this winter.
