Spend Time in a Quintessential New England Town
The town of York in Maine is a lovely place to spend time in the autumn. York has some of the best seafood restaurants in Maine, like the York Harbor Inn and Ship’s Cellar Pub. The town also has two wonderful beaches: Short Sands and Long Sands, that are perfect for an afternoon stroll or quiet contemplation.
York is bustling with activities in the fall. In October, the town hosts Harvestfest, which includes many events such as entertainment, hayrides, crafts, and a pumpkin stroll. Guests can visit Wild Kingdom Zoo and Fun Park for a wonderful day out. Other attractions in York include hiking the Wiggly Bridge at Steedman Woods or picnicking at Cape Neddick Nubble Lighthouse.
Enjoy 10 Miles of Memories
The fall is wonderful in Ocean City, Maryland. The gorgeous 10 mile beach is open, and the temperatures are mild this time of year. For fine dining, options include Marlin Moon Restaurant, where the locals love to eat, or for some delicious seafood try Fager’s Island in the bay. Many of the shops in town remain open year round. The Outlets of Ocean City is a place where you can find name brand fashions.
There is so much to do in Ocean City in the fall and year round. Visitors can bike the boardwalk or go fishing out to sea. Golf enthusiasts will want to try any of the 17 championship courses in the area. For the kids, there are several amusement parks in the area including Jolly Roger Amusement Park, Trimper’s Rides and Amusement Park and Marty’s Playland.

A great fall getaway with wide gorgeous beaches is Jekyll Island, Georgia. Every November, the island hosts the Shrimp & Grits Festival with three days of music, food, and fun. Jekyll Island has many top rate restaurants including excellent lamb at Grand Dining Room, and stuffed flounder at Driftwood Bistro, plus many more.
Jekyll Island has many great experiences for the whole family. South Padre Island in Texas is the perfect fall beach trip. The fall is in fact the best time to visit, where the summer crowds have gone, and all is quiet-until spring break in March. In October, the town hosts Sand Castle Days, an event where master sand builders create incredible structures made of sand. Clayton’s Beach Bar and Grill is the biggest beach bar in the entire state of Texas and serves awesome food and cocktails.
Aside from the beach, there are many things to do on South Padre Island. People of all ages will enjoy a visit to Sea Turtle, Inc., which is a turtle rehabilitation center. For a day of family fun, guests can visit South Padre Island Adventure Park. Visitors can also enjoy ziplining, horseback riding, birdwatching, fishing, and many more activities here.

Lincoln City, Oregon is also known as the ‘Kite Flying Capital of the World’. The Lincoln City Kite Festival happens every October, and includes parades, kite-making workshops, and show kites. If you crave some fabulous scallops or clams, stop into The Bay House at Salishan, or indulge in a yummy cinnamon roll fromNelscott Café.
Off the beach, there are other activities happening in Lincoln City. Visitors can hike the beautiful Cascade Head, do fat tire biking on the beach, or play many rounds of golf.
