Now that fall has given way to winter, many of us may be dreaming of sunny days and warm weather. If you’re looking to make these dreams a reality, a trip to one of the many gorgeous Caribbean islands could be the perfect plan. Here are five suggestions for islands to visit, along with some notable things to do on each.
1. Grand Cayman
One of three islands that make up the Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman is best known for its idyllic beachside resorts as well as being an excellent spot for snorkeling and scuba diving. Look forward to shopping or learning more about the history of this gorgeous island and its capital city Georgetown. For lodging consider staying at the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa or Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa. The Cayman Islands have just re-opened to tourists without the need to quarantine as of November 20, 2021, making this an excellent time to visit.
2. Antigua
One of two major islands that make up the country of Antigua and Barbuda, Antigua is a dreamy coral reef surrounded by land that is home to countless beautiful beaches. Relaxing on one of the island's many beaches isn’t the only draw, however. Visitors also flock to this island to experience a number of other attractions. Consider checking out the Devil's Bridge, a memorable sightseeing attraction consisting of a large natural limestone bridge on the oceanfront. You also won't want to miss exploring Saint John's, a memorable and colorful city on the island that is perfect for shopping.
3. St. Vincent and the Grenadines
These stunning volcanic islands are home to some of the lushest and vibrant scenery in the Caribbean. If you’re wondering what things there are to do on this collection of islands, here are a couple of suggestions. For a memorable and unique experience, consider checking out The Owia Salt Pond, a naturally occurring pool on St. Vincent about an hour's drive from the island's capital Kingstown. For lodging, consider checking out The Liming Bequia. This gorgeous resort offers dreamy pools as well as beach access, and its location on Bequia supplies apple solitude and serenity.
4. Harbour Island
Pastel houses, pink sand beaches, and lots of sun – what more could one ask for? You can experience all of this, and more, with a visit to Harbor Island. Stroll the streets of Dunmore Town, and take in the memorable and unique pastel-colored buildings. Then, check out one of the island's gorgeous beaches. If you’re looking for some excellent lodging options, consider Valentine's Resort and Marina or Pink Sands Resort. The waters and circling the island are also a great place for snorkeling and scuba diving, and our home to a wide variety of beautiful sea life.
5. Middle Caicos
Offering lush and green scenery, sparkling white sand beaches, and crystal clear waters Middle Caicos is the perfect destination for your upcoming Caribbean trip. The largest, but also one of the least developed, this is a great option for those looking for a remote and peaceful trip. In addition to boasting gorgeous land and seascapes, Middle Caicos is also home to one of the largest cave networks in the Caribbean, the Conch Bar Caves. Both Conch Bar Caves, as well as the nearby Indian Cave, are open to the public and can make for a memorable excursion. You’ll also want to check out some of the island's beaches, including Bambarra beach and Cedar point. Finally, if you’re looking for a place to stay consider Dragon Cay Resort, which offers a uniquely secluded and relaxing stay.
