Tres Mundos Hostel

Best hostel for: Budget backpackers looking for chill vibes

Dorm price (avg): $12 USD/night
Private room (avg): $35 USD/night

After checking out all of the popular hostels in Playa del Carmen for the end of 2021, we noticed that some of the mainstays are open but under renovation and aren't as traveler friendly as in previous years.

Tres Mundos Hostel is probably one of the cheapest options in town and still welcoming backpackers. The hostel has a nice chill common area and communal kitchen on the ground floor, with decent WiFi if you want to get some work done. There's also great cocktails for 50 pesos for happy hour.

This hostel isn't the cleanest and the lighting is a little dim throughout the property, but it's a good budget option for a few nights while you get your bearings in Playa del Carmen. The kitchen and common areas are well kept, and there's drinking water provided. It's right next to a great restaurant and coffee shop, so it's worth checking out this area.
