Known for its gorgeous beaches and nightlife scene, there’s no shortage of fantastic things to do while visiting Miami. Here are some suggestions for unique, memorable, and fun places you'll want to visit on your next trip to the city.
1. Wynnwood Walls
This unique museum features outdoor murals from artists around the world. You can traverse the museum by yourself or via guided tour if you’re looking to learn more about the artists and their works. The museum also hosts several special events, such as their upcoming yoga in the garden event. Tickets for general admission, guided tours, and special events are all available online.
2. The Perez Art Museum Miami
Here’s a great option for art lovers! The Perez Art Museum Miami is dedicated to contemporary and modern art. It features works of a variety of mediums, from paintings to sculptures. It focuses on highlighting African, Latinx, and Caribbean art and artists – visiting here is a great way to see some authentic art pieces representing other cultures. In addition to the museum itself, you can also look forward to strolling through the sculpture garden. You can reserve timed entry tickets online. Additionally, face coverings that fully cover the mouth and nose are required for all visitors.
3. Bayside Marketplace
This shopping center is situated right on the beautiful Miami bay! You can look forward to checking out the stores – the marketplace is home to both larger chain stores as well as some unique shops. Then, grab a bite to eat at one of the center’s 12 restaurants. Finally, save some time to simply stroll around enjoying the scenery or some of the live music performances the center offers. Its waterfront location has also made it a popular starting point for cruises and tours.
4. The Kampong
The Kampong is a gorgeous botanical garden located on Miami’s Biscayne bay. The gardens are part of the former estate of a famous botanical explorer, Dr. David Fairchild. Home to hundreds of stunning tropical plants, you can see it yourself with a self-guided tour. Entry does require advance and timed reservations, and the garden is open Tuesday-Friday.
5. The Venetian Pool
If you’re planning on visiting in late winter or early spring of 2022, consider checking out the Venetian Pool. Set to reopen for the season on February 1st, this public pool sets itself apart from others with its unique features and history. The pool was built with coral rock and is filled with spring water. It features two gorgeous waterfalls, a bridge, and a variety of a pair of historic lookout towers. This gorgeous setting of the pool makes this the perfect place to not just relax but take some memorable Instagram photos. Currently, some COVID-19 restrictions are in place. Due to the changing nature of the pandemic, restrictions could differ when the pool does reopen, but currently include face coverings being recommended when not swimming. Tickets for the pool are available online.
6. The Deering Estate
The Deering Estate is a historical site that features some gorgeous buildings as well as a botanical garden. This is another excellent spot for photos for Instagram, as well as being an amazing place to learn more about history. The estate was the former residence of Charles Deering, an American businessman. The house is currently open to the public. In addition to welcoming visitors for daily walkthroughs, the estate also hosts a number of events and is a popular venue for weddings. Admission tickets are available online.
7. Monkey Jungle
Here’s one for animal lovers! Monkey Jungle is a one-of-a-kind park that is home to a number of primates. Guests can look forward to viewing the animals, as well as checking out some “performances” based on the primate’s natural behaviors. Advance reservations are currently required to visit, and masks are required for visitors.
