Ukraine first reopened their borders for tourism on June 15, 2020. They discontinued their ‘green’ and ‘red’ zone lists in 2021, and have since been more welcoming to foreign visitors.
Here is all the latest information about traveling to Ukraine in 2022, including PCR testing rules, the mandatory state-run insurance required, and other travel rules you’ll need to know before you go.
Tourist Entry Requirements for Ukraine 2022
Countries Allowed To Visit Ukraine For Tourism in 2022
All nations are welcome to enter Ukraine for the purposes of tourism under normal immigration and visa rules.
Note: Passengers from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe are currently banned due to variant concerns.
Testing Required For Entry
All foreign passengers must provide proof of a negative PCR or Antigen test that was performed no longer than 72 hours before arrival in Ukraine.
Children under the age of 12 are exempt from the testing rule.
Proof of being fully vaccinated or recovered will exempt passengers from testing rules.
Approved vaccines include: Pfizer/BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Moderna, Jonhson & Johnson, Sinopharm, and Sinovac.
Quarantine Requirements
Quarantine is not required for most visitors.
Unvaccinated citizens arriving from Russia must undergo a 14-day quarantine without the possibility of early termination.
Mandatory Travel Health Insurance
All tourists entering Ukraine will first have to obtain their state-run travel insurance for the entire duration of their trip. Policies will need to be purchased before entering Ukraine and will be shown at the border along with the PCR test results.
The insurance can be easily purchased on Ukraine’s official travel portal and costs €3.3 Euro for the first 3 days of the trip, + €0.80 Euro for each additional day. An 8% service fee/tax is also applied for the total cost of the insurance.
Masks in Ukraine
The wearing of masks in all public indoor and outdoor spaces is required. Children under 6 are exempt.

Kashlee, do those who are vaccinated still need that PCR test taken 48 hours before arrival. Your article is a bit vague but I think they don't. Just one less impediment to travel. Why would they mandate masks when outdoors? I can understand [a bit] wearing one indoors but outdoors there's lot of virus killing fresh air. TIA
