WestJet has announced 14 new flights to Europe and 3 new flights to the United States, just in time for Spring and Summer breaks. After two years of poor connectivity in and out of Canada, this is excellent news for all travel-hungry Canucks and anyone transiting through the country.
The flight annoucements restores WestJet’s summer schedule to 94% of pre-pandemic levels.
Chief Commercial Officer, John Weatherill, stated: “We know Canadians are ready to make their highly anticipated return to travel this summer, so whether it's reconnecting with friends and family, or taking that long-overdue trip, we are here to help our guests make up for lost time,”
“The aviation industry is a formidable economic engine and the investments we have made across Canada and internationally affirm our commitment to restoring connectivity across our expansive global network while doing our part to expedite Canada's economic recovery,” he added.
This summer, WestJet will serve:
- 43 domestic destinations
- 16 Caribbean destinations
- 8 Transatlantic destinations
The New Routes
In response to the addition of the new routes, John Weatherhill said: “These routes create a significant visitor pipeline from Europe and demonstrate WestJet's commitment to leading the travel and tourism industry's recovery.”
“Our guests have long awaited a return to international travel,” he added.

- Halifax to Paris – 4 x weekly – Starting May 7, 2022
- Halifax to Gatwick – 1 x daily – Starting May 1, 2022
- Halifax to Dublin – 3 x weekly – Starting May 1, 2022
- Halifax to Glasgow – 3 x weekly – Starting May 2, 2022
- Toronto to Barcelona – 3 x weekly – Starting May 13, 2022
- Toronto to Dublin – 1 x daily – Starting May 15, 2022
- Toronto to Glasgow – 4 x weekly – Starting May 20, 2022
- Toronto to Edinburgh – 3 x weekly – Starting June 2, 2022
- Toronto to London Gatwick – 3 x weekly – Starting May 1, 2022
- Calgary to Rome – 3 x weekly – Starting May 7, 2022
- Calgary to Paris – 5 x weekly – Starting March 14, 2022
- Calgary to London Heathrow – 4 x weekly – Starting March 26, 2022
- Calgary to London Gatwick – 5 x weekly – Starting March 14, 2022
- Calgary to Dublin – 3 x weekly – Starting May 8, 2022
- Vancouver to London Gatwick – 1 x daily – Starting May 1, 2022

These new routes are excellent for Canadian travelers looking for a summer vacation to Europe or the U.S. after two years of travel challenges because of the pandemic.
Entry into the U.S. is easy, as only a 1-day negative antigen test is needed. Entry into Europe will vary depending on the country, with either only proof of vaccination needed to gain entry, and in some cases, proof of vaccination along with a negative antigen test.
