The inauguration of President Biden led to reinstated travel bans that were formerly lifted by President Donald Trump just before his departure from office.
While the current administration is tightening travel restrictions and considering testing requirements for domestic travel, more than 27 million Americans have received one or more doses of vaccine.
Amidst ongoing interstate and international travel rules, we have comprised a list of countries open to American passport holders.
Americans wishing for a getaway, despite the CDC’s advisory to the contrary, have options – under set requirements.
Subsequently, here are ten international destinations that are open to American tourists, currently maintaining a decline in cases of COVID-19, followed by the complete list.
The former is also exempting travelers from quarantine upon arrival, granted that the testing requirement is met. US residents will also need to obtain a negative test result for their return to the U.S.
Aruba
Entry requirements: Travelers (aged 15 and above) to Aruba are required to present a negative PCR test result taken no more than 72 hours prior to departure. Individuals that tested positive two to 12 weeks prior to travel and have recovered are exempt.
All arrivals must fill out Aruba’s online Embarkation and Disembarkation (ED) program.
Aruba Visitors Insurance is compulsory and can only be purchased online within 72 hours of departure. A flat premium of $30 is applicable to ages 15 to 75+ and $10 for 0-14, on stays of a duration of 180 days or less.

The Bahamas
Entry requirements: Travelers (aged 11 and above) to the Bahamas are required to present a negative PCR test result taken no more than five days prior to arrival.
Fulfillment of the Bahamas Health Visa application, once a negative PCR test has been attained, takes up to 48 hours to process and must be displayed upon arrival. The application fee consolidates health insurance for the duration of the stay.

Belize
Entry requirements: Travelers to Belize are required to present a negative PCR test result taken no more than four days prior to travel or an eligible rapid test taken within two days.
Visitors are to book stays at government-approved Gold Standard establishments and install the Belize Health app.

Bermuda
Entry requirements: Travelers (aged 10 and above) to Bermuda are required to present a negative PCR test result taken no more than 5 days prior to departure. A second test will be taken at the airport upon arrival, and travelers will be required to quarantine, generally up to 24 hours, until the result is available.
Visitors will be asked to wear a wristband within the first two weeks of their visit. Removal of the wristband may result in a $500 fine and electric monitoring.
Visitors will be retested on days 4, 8 and if applicable, 14, depending on the duration of the stay.

Costa Rica
Entry requirements: Travelers to Costa Rica are not required to test for entry. A Health Pass form is to be completed prior to arrival, and required travel medical insurance can be purchased online or upon arrival in Costa Rica.

Curaçao
Entry requirements: Travelers (aged 7 years and above) to Curaçao are required to present a negative PCR test result from a certified lab taken no more than 72 hours prior to departure. Visitors are to complete an online Passenger Locator Card, and carry a print out of their test result during their stay. Medical insurance is mandatory.

Jamaica
Entry requirements: Travelers (aged 12 and above) to Jamaica are required to present a negative PCR or antigen test result from a certified lab taken no more than 10 days prior to the date of departure. Visitors are to obtain travel authorization, and those staying outside the safe zone or “Resilient Corner”, are obligated to quarantine.

St. Lucia
Entry requirements: Travelers (aged 5 and above) to St. Lucia are required to present a negative PCR test result taken no more than five days prior to arrival. Travelers aged 18+ are to obtain travel registration authorization and submit health screening forms. St Lucia has specified government-approved accommodations and activities for tourists during their stay.

St. Marteen
Entry requirements: Travelers to St. Marteen’s (Dutch portion) are required to present a negative select antigen test result taken no more than 48 hours prior to departure, or a PCR taken no more than five days prior. Visitors are to complete the online application and purchase COVID-19 health insurance.
The French portion of the island however is less lenient, as it is only accepting visitors with essential cause of travel and test result of no more than 72 hours. Temperature checks will be taken upon arrival.

US Virgin Islands
Entry requirements: Travelers to USVI (aged 5 and above) are required to present a negative PCR or antigen test result no more than five days prior to departure. For individuals having recovered from COVID-19, an antibody test taken within four months is acceptable for entry. Travel Certification is required to board.
The new CDC travel requirements (PCR test to return to the US mainland) currently do not apply to American travelers returning from USVI, unless otherwise changed.

Recently removed from the list
French Polynesia – prohibiting entry for tourism until further notice, partly due to the risk of emerging variants of COVID-19.
St. Barts – French territory currently appealing to the French gov't to gain exemption from France's recent border closure to all non-EU nations.
Montenegro – discordant data between the US Embassy and Montenegro Gov't regarding entry requirements.
Croatia – borders closed to Americans until at least mid-Feb.
Belarus – a result of mass protests within the country.
