Cancun Continues To See Strong Tourism Growth

They say being first has its perks. When it comes to Cancun, that couldn't be more true. Cancun was the very first destination to reopen for tourism to the world back on June 8th, 2020.

In its first month alone, Cancun International Airport received over 70,000 tourists. While Cancun was originally restricted to only 30% capacity at its hotels, it recently announced that it was moving to the second phase of reopening which would allow for a 60% occupancy rate.

Since reopening, Cancun has become one of the top tourism destinations during the COVID-19 pandemic. In August alone, the tropical destination reached almost 300,000 international arrivals.

In additional 522,000 domestic passengers were registered at the airport in August bringing the grand total of passengers to 819,365 for the month.

Two more European airlines are scheduled to arrive in Cancun in the month of October.

AirFrance says that it will resume its Paris to Cancun route in with three flights per week, then in November with five flights per week followed by daily flights in December.

British Airlines said they will also resume flights from London in October.

During the month of September, the Cancun airport was receiving over 200 flights per day and that number is expected to balloon as high season begins in November and December.

With some of the easiest COVID-19 entry requirements in the world, and great connectivity continuing to increase, tourists are flocking to the tropical destination.

Cancun is by far one of the hottest tourism destinations in the world right now and is open to everyone.
