One of the the world's largest cruise lines has decided to take matters into their own hands after being blocked from sailing in the United States and Canada for over a year. Royal Caribbean has announced it will sail from multiple destinations outside of the United States by summer due to the CDC's strict guidelines which have made it impossible for cruise lines to restart operations.
These are the 5 destinations that Royal Caribbean has designated as new home ports.
Limassol, Cyprus
Royal Caribbean said that is will begin seven-night departures out of Limassol, Cyprus starting on July 10 sailing on the Jewel of the Seas.
The 7 night voyages will sail from Limassol and focus on destinations including Piraeus, Greece and the Greek islands of Rhodes, Crete, Mykonos and Santorini. Cruises will be open to vaccinated travelers from all countries who are eligible to enter Cyprus.
Haifa, Israel
Royal Caribbean has announced that it will deploy its largest ship, the Odyssey of the Seas to the country starting in May for cruises to the Mediterranean. The global cruise line will offer a combination of 3- to 7-night escapes visiting the Greek Isles and Cyprus.
This is the first time ever Royal Caribbean will offer cruises roundtrip from Haifa, Israel. Voyages went on sale March 9th and are open to vaccinated Israeli's only.
Nassau, Bahamas
Royal Caribbean said it will begin seven-night sailings out of Nassau in the Bahamas on June 12 that will feature calls in the Bahamas and Cozumel, Mexico. The trips will take place on the 3,807-passenger Adventure of the Seas.
Cruises will be open to vaccinated travelers from all countries who are eligible to enter the Bahamas.
Bermuda
Royal Caribbean will begin seven-night sailings to the Bahamas out of Bermuda’s Royal Naval Dockyard starting on June 26.
This is Royal Caribbean’s first ship sailing out Bermuda in its 52-year history. The trips will take place on one of Royal Caribbean’s smallest vessels, the Vision of the Seas.
Cruises will be open to vaccinated travelers from all countries who are eligible to enter Bermuda.
Singapore – Already Sailing
The first Royal Caribbean cruise ship to restart operations was back in December sailing out of Singapore. Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas offers 3 night voyages from Singapore with no stops.
Cruises are open to vaccinated travelers from Singapore only.
Celebrity Cruises Joins Royal Caribbean In The Caribbean
Celebrity Cruises’, a sister-company of Royal Caribbean, has also moved its homeport to circumvent CDC regulations, relocating to St. Maarten in the Caribbean. Two cruise offerings will be available, both taking place on the Celebrity Millennium ship, and will start from June 5th. One itinerary will see passengers visit Aruba, Curaçao and Barbados, whilst a second will head to Tortola, St. Lucia and Barbados.

About time, too! The CDC's continued intransigence demonstrates that it has no interest in seeing cruising resume from the US. I applaud the cruise lines for taking their ships elsewhere so they can avoid economic collapse.
