Canadians are usually thinking about warm destinations for their vacations, especially during Winter, and Swoop Airlines has great news for sun-seekers! The Canadian low-cost airline has recently announced new flights to Mexico and the Caribbean.
Through a press release on Monday, Swoop shared new non-stop routes from Hamilton, Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Abbotsford.
Bob Cummings, President of Swoop, explained that the carrier is doing its best to meet Canadian traveler’s demands: “With winter weather upon us, demand for leisure travel down south is reaching new heights, and we're proud to meet that demand with this added capacity.”
The new itineraries include these destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean:
- Punta Cana.
- Cancún.
- Puerto Rico.

The carrier has also announced a fleet expansion. New modern aircraft—six Boeing 737 MAX 8— have joined their services. In January, Swoop will resume its popular route from Hamilton to Montego Bay, increase the frequency and serve new exciting routes.
Swoop had already expanded its network a few months ago, including new Caribbean destinations for winter travel, and launched special routes to the Dominican Republic. The carrier keeps growing and adding great alternatives for Canadians. Here’s what travelers should know about the new routes.

Swoop’s Expansion
Swoop is one of the low-cost airlines competing against the most powerful carriers in the market, Air Canada and WestJet. With its special prices for popular sunny destinations, the carrier has built a reputation in Canada and gained relevance during the past few years.
Regarding the new routes and the resumed service to Jamaica, Cole Horncastle, Executive Managing Director of John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, said: “We're excited that travelers can once again take advantage of convenient flights to Jamaica as Swoop resumes its popular service between Hamilton and Montego Bay in the new year. The restart is indicative of the growth ahead for our travel and tourism industry in 2023 and comes just in time for travelers looking for a Caribbean destination this winter.”
With the addition of the new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to its existing fleet of Boeing 737-800 NGs, the ultra-low-cost carrier now has a fleet of 16 aircraft. Thanks to this addition, the airline can offer more frequency and more destinations to their customers.
Swoop also has special getaway vacation packages available on its official website and great sales for international and domestic flights. Its home page features promotions for a winter escape, such as one-way fares from London to Cancun starting at 139 CAD or one-way flights from Hamilton to St. John’s starting at just 59 CAD.
Travelers must remember that prices might not include certain services and amenities usually available on traditional airlines. Swoop considers only one free item for travelers, and it has to be small, like a purse, a laptop bag, or a small backpack. Bag fees start at $42 CAD online and increase at the airport. Travelers can learn more about this at Swoop’s website.
