Looking for your new dream destination? These cities are the perfect choice for anyone looking for a vacation without having to worry about any extra entry requirements for travel.
We’ve recently updated our post on countries without any travel restrictions, with nations being added almost daily. For all the destinations listed below, we can confirm that there won’t be any entry requirements for travel. – no pre-flight tests, no quarantines, and no proof of vaccination. The only thing is that you still may need a test for your trip back home, depending on your country's current rules.
Here are some top destinations in wide-open countries that will have you packing your bags for your next and much-needed adventure. From Dublin and Budapest to the beaches in Mazatlan, you can party like it’s 2019 again.
Dublin, Ireland
Following two years of limited tourism, the Emerald Isle is ready to be explored again. With direct flights available to Dublin from cities in the U.S. and Canada, you can enjoy the capital city of Dublin like you never have before.
Start your trip by joining a walking tour and getting to know the city from the eyes of a local. Afterward, spend the afternoon wandering the streets of downtown to find your favorite historic pub and whiskey den. If you can take a longer vacation in Ireland, rent a car and drive down the coast, staying at cozy bed and breakfasts along the way.
La Libertad, El Salvador
Never been to El Salvador? Also known as the first “Bitcoin nation”, there’s no better time to get to know this beautiful Central American country. With great surfing opportunities paired with picturesque beaches and stunning mountain ranges, you’ll be surprised by how much El Salvador has to offer.
The coastal city of La Libertad is where it all starts. Just a short drive south from the capital of San Salvador, travelers wake up to the morning waves of the Pacific Ocean. The main beach in this city is El Tunco, where you can find lots of accommodation and restaurant options.
Budapest, Hungary
Intrepid travelers have always flocked to Budapest and the time has come again. There’s just something about spending an evening at one of the city’s many historic ruin bars, wandering along the Danube River, and admiring the city’s stunning skyline that keeps explorers coming back for more.
While Budapest has so many charms, one of the biggest draws is its food culture. From a steaming hot bowl of goulash to street-side dodos tortas (drummer cake) you’ll eat well here in Budapest.
Mazatlan, Mexico
It’s well-known that Mexico hasn’t implemented any travel restrictions for international visitors over the past few years. As a result, the bustling beach cities of Cancun and Puerto Vallarta became one of the most-visited destinations in 2021.
While both of those cities are great for travelers, let us take you to the lesser-known city of Mazatlan. Located in Mexico’s Sinaloa state along the Pacific Coast, Mazatlan has lots to offer travelers looking for something a little different.
Start by exploring the Centro Historic before wandering along the scenic Malecon for sunset. While Mazatlan is a popular beach resort destination, there’s also a ton of options for more budget travelers when it comes to food and accommodation options.
If you’re looking for other things to do in Mazatlan, take a ferry to the nearby Isla de la Piedra (not really an island, but scenic regardless) and spend the day enjoying the beach and sampling great seafood.
Bergen, Norway
Located along the southwest coast of Norway, Bergen is a beloved travel destination for good reason. Gorgeous fjords are just a day trip away and are also some of the most accessible in the country. The best way to experience these wonders is by booking a local tour.
Bergen also has stunning architecture, with all the historical buildings and colorful houses perched along the mountaintops of the city. It’s also a very walkable town, where you can easily spend hours strolling along the Vagen Harbor and sampling Scandinavian dishes at some of the many seaside restaurants in town.
Ljubljana, Slovenia
Start your adventures in Slovenia in the capital city of Ljubljana. Here, you’ll be transported back in time to one of the greenest and most charming cities in all of central Europe. Admire the Baroque architecture in the churches of the Old Town before heading over to the iconic Ljubljana Castle.
Ljubljana truly is a green city – it has the largest car-free zone in the EU and the city is very bicycle-friendly. There's even an electric train to take tourists around the downtown core. All of that paired with the countless parks scattered throughout the city, you can take a relaxing, cultural getaway here in Ljubljana.
Reykjavik, Iceland
Remember when we were all flocking to Iceland back in the day in 2018? Now that Iceland has abolished all entry requirements for travelers from February 25, you can visit this unique island country like its pre-pandemic times.
Start your trip by booking a tour to some of Iceland’s top attractions which are an easy day trip from the capital city of Reykjavik. With geothermal spas like the picturesque Blue Lagoon and the Black Sand Beach, you’ll be booking your trip back in no time.
Reykjavik is also home to world-class cuisine and an impressive coffee culture that will keep you eating and drinking your way around the city for days.
Amman, Jordan
Jordan’s capital city of Amman is the cultural heart of the country. Explore the modern downtown core before hitting up the Roman ruins like the Citadel and Roman Theater. Spend a few days wandering the souqs, going to art museums, and sipping coffee on a patio in one of Amman’s picturesque neighborhoods.
Amman is also on our list of unique destinations to visit this year. Take a once in a lifetime trip here and experience history like no other.
Kotor, Montenegro
Located along the Adriatic coast, Kotor is a gem in the beautiful Balkan country of Montenegro. This city offers seaside views, mountains to hike and a unique culture to experience. If this is your first visit to the Balkans, then a city like Kotor is a great place to start.
Join a walking tour of the Old Town to get your bearings, before heading out for the afternoon to sample some delicious Kotor cuisine. There’s even a beach nearby where you can lounge, paddleboards just take in the gorgeous views.
Sint Michiel, Curaçao
A quieter option than the capital city of Willemstad, Sint Michiel offers great accommodation options where you’ll be in close proximity to some of the best beaches on the island, such as Blue Bay and Kokomo.
The peace and quiet that you’ll find here might just be the perfect, relaxing beach getaway you’ve been looking for.
