Whether you live in Los Angeles, or you’re just planning on visiting the city this holiday season, here are five places that are perfect for seeing in the new year.

1. Prohibition NYE 

Head downtown to experience this 1920s themed New Year’s Eve party. This is a great option for those looking for a unique, lively, and memorable way to ring in 2022. 1920s themed attire is encouraged but not required. You can look forward to enjoying a variety of custom cocktails and champagne, live entertainment, and even getting to see a ball drop following the New Year’s Eve countdown. Located at Union Station and returning for its ninth year of fun, tickets to this event are available for purchase online. COVID-19 precautions following requirements set by the state of California are in place, including wearing a mask while not eating or drinking and proof of vaccination or negative Covid test.

2. EVE at Universal Studios Hollywood 

See in the new year with a midnight firework show at Universal Studios Hollywood. This is a great option for families, those who love amusement parks, or those just looking to catch a stunning firework display and enjoy a relatively laid-back event. During the day you can look forward to enjoying the full selection of rides offered at Universal Studios Hollywood. Once the sun sets, you’ll be able to check out a variety of party areas, photo op displays, and have no shortage of great options for food and drink. Tickets for EVE are available for purchase online. Platinum annual pass holders are also able to use their annual pass for entry, though other animal pass holders will have to purchase an event-specific ticket in addition to their past.

3. Bar Lis

Looking for a sophisticated spot to see the new year in? Consider spending the evening at Bar Lis. This elegant rooftop bar will feature live jazz music, DJs, and of course, a variety of high-quality drinks. In addition to the wonderful ambiance provided by the bar itself, its rooftop location also means you get to enjoy stunning views of the city below. Due to the bar's popularity, tickets are required on New Year’s to reserve your spot. If you’re looking to enjoy some classy drinks and Light food after the ball has dropped, a slightly cheaper after midnight option is also available. Tickets are available for purchase online.

4. Avalon Hollywood

This is the perfect option for those looking for a fun and vibrant way to leave 2021 in the past. World-renowned electronic dance music DJ Mark Schultz will be performing at Avalon Hollywood to see in the new year. You can look forward to great music, great drinks, and an all-around fantastic atmosphere. Tickets are available online. Proof of vaccination, along with a mask, is required to attend this event.

5. Countdown

Why settle for a couple of hours of celebration when you can enjoy an entire two days of festivities? Countdown is an out-of-this-world – pun intended – music festival geared toward celebrating the start of 2022. With a line-up that features dozens of artists including Afrojack and Diplo, and a fun alien invasion theme, spending your New Year’s Eve at countdown is sure to make for a truly memorable experience. The festival is set to include five stages. Food and beverages will be available from various vendors throughout the festival, and those over 21 can also look forward to enjoying a drink. Tickets are available online for both days, as well as single-day passes. There are some COVID-19 restrictions in place. Proof of either full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken 72 hours before you attend the festival is required.
