The Classic Christmas in New York City

New York City is a wonderful blend of sights, sounds and tastes during the holiday season. The city has many holiday traditions including the  world famous Christmas tree and ice skating at Rockefeller Plaza. Many visit to see the legendary Radio City Christmas Spectacular or shop the thousands of retail outlets in the city. Tourists from all over the world visit New York City for that quintessential American holiday experience.

The little town of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania is known as ‘Christmas City’ during the holiday season. This little town really goes out for the holidays with many holiday themed activities and events. Guests can take a guided Christmas themed tour, where they will be escorted by guides in period dress and learn about the town’s historical landmarks, architecture, and the Bethlehem Star.

Celebrate the Holidays in the Nation’s Capital

Washington, DC is a delightful place to visit during the holiday season. The city is full of festive Christmas markets and its many gardens are decorated in beautiful vibrant lights. One highlight in DC during the holiday season is viewing the National Christmas Tree located near the White House. The tree is surrounded with handmade ornaments that represent every state and territory. 

Visit Santa Claus in the Midwest

If a small town midwestern holiday is what you had in mind, visit Santa Claus, Indiana. As expected, the entire town is Christmas themed, and full of holiday activities including parades and a candy castle. Guests can drive their cars through the Santa Claus Land of Lights, which is a one mile Christmas light spectacular perfect for the whole family.

To see traditions of Christmas past come alive, visit Colonial Williamsburg. During the holidays, the entire historic center is decorated with vibrant Christmas lights, and many special events take place during the season. Highlights include the Grand Illumination, historical reenactments, guided tours, and special concerts and performing arts presentations. 

A Rocky Mountain Christmas

Head out to Colorado Springs to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere of the Rocky Mountains. This city is chock full of the holiday spirit with activities that include ice skating, and the festive light displays of the Broadmoor Hotel, the Cheyenne Zoo, and the annual Parade of Lights. In nearby Pike’s Peak, guests can ride the Santa Train hosted by Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the elves on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Another great attraction in Colorado Springs is the Garden of the Gods, where you can take a marvelous nature hike. During the holiday season, the Gods Trading Post located in the garden is an iconic Christmas shopping destination in Colorado Springs. 

Enjoy the Holidays Surrounded by Nature

In Jackson Hole, Wyoming visitors can spend their holiday getaway amazed by the scenery. The town square in Jackson is festively decorated for the season, and children visit Santa there before he boards the Jackson Hole aerial tramway to begin his Christmas Eve journey. At the nearby National Elk Refuge, guest can take a sleigh ride and see these wonderful creatures up close. Besides the fantastic skiing in the area, guests can take it easy with a snowshoe tour escorted by rangers at Grand Teton National Park

Have a California Christmas

If you prefer warmer weather during the holidays, consider Los Angeles for that getaway. The holiday festivities here include the Holiday Light Train Festival in Griffith Park, and the Hollywood Christmas Parade. Of course, the holiday light decorations at some of the city’s spectacular homes are definitely worth checking out. In December, many LA area eateries have special Christmas Eve menus, and groups love to do the traditional Christmas pub crawl in Long Beach.
