The United States did indeed lift its global level 4 ‘Do Not Travel' advisory but many Americans are unaware that new travel warnings have gone into effect for each individual country.

The State Department went back to its previous way of rating countries individually instead of the blanket worldwide ban they issued when the pandemic began.

Many countries still have the level 4 ‘Do Not Travel' advisory and some of them happen to be the top destinations for American travelers.

Level 4 Travel Advisories May Void Travel Insurance Policies

American travelers will want to check with their travel insurance providers as many do not provide any coverage if there is a level 4 advisory. There may also be exemptions for Covid-19 coverage under the State Department's ‘do not travel' warning.

See our guide on everything you need to know about Covid-19 travel insurance and companies that will provide coverage regardless of travel advisories.
