The United States did indeed lift its global level 4 ‘Do Not Travel' advisory but many Americans are unaware that new travel warnings have gone into effect for each individual country.
The State Department went back to its previous way of rating countries individually instead of the blanket worldwide ban they issued when the pandemic began.
Many countries still have the level 4 ‘Do Not Travel' advisory and some of them happen to be the top destinations for American travelers.
The four levels of Travel Advisories issued by the U.S. State Department are as follows:
Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions
Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution
Level 3: Reconsider Travel
Level 4: Do Not Travel
Countries With a Level 4 ‘Do Not Travel' Advisory
The Bahamas
Do not travel to The Bahamas due to health and safety measures and COVID-related conditions. Exercise increased caution in The Bahamas due to crime.
Panama
Do not travel to Panama due to COVID-19. Some areas have increased risk.
Mexico
Do not travel to Mexico due to COVID-19. Exercise increased caution in Mexico due to crime and kidnapping. Some areas have increased risk.
Dominican Republic
Do not travel to the Dominican Republic due to health and safety measures and COVID-related conditions.
Belize
Do not travel to Belize due to COVID-19. Exercise increased caution in Belize due to crime.
Costa Rica
Do not travel to Costa Rica due to COVID-19. Exercise increased caution in Costa Rica due to crime.
Peru
Do not travel to Peru due to COVID-19. Exercise increased caution in Peru due to crime and terrorism. Some areas have increased risk.
Brazil
Do not travel to Brazil due to COVID-19. Exercise increased caution in Brazil due to crime. Some areas have increased risk.
Colombia
Do not travel to Colombia due to COVID-19. Exercise increased caution in Colombia due to crime, terrorism and kidnapping. Some areas have increased risk.
Argentina
Do not travel to Argentina due to COVID-19.
India
Do not travel to India due to COVID-19. Exercise increased caution in India due to crime and terrorism.

Level 4 Travel Advisories May Void Travel Insurance Policies
American travelers will want to check with their travel insurance providers as many do not provide any coverage if there is a level 4 advisory. There may also be exemptions for Covid-19 coverage under the State Department's ‘do not travel' warning.
