AMResorts has revealed its ambitious plan to bring its famous all inclusive resorts to Florida and Hawaii. The hotel and brand management company has achieved great success with its resorts in other corners of the world, most notably in some of the world’s top destinations such as Mexico and the Dominican Republic, and will be looking to achieve more of the same when the company expands its burgeoning empire further in the United States in the near future.
Here’s a look at everything we know so far about AMResorts’ plan to expand further into North America, including the potential destination it could open resorts in, which of the company’s brands could be the first to land in the United States and when the developments are expected to get underway.
AMResorts In The US – What Travelers Should Know
Established in 2001, AMResorts is the fastest growing luxury leisure resort company in North America. It boasts more than 20,000 rooms in its portfolio, spread amongst eleven different countries. Whilst frequently travelers to Mexico, the Dominican Republic and other Caribbean destinations are likely familiar with the company, AMResorts doesn’t yet have any properties in the United States. However, that could all be set to change in the near future.
Destinations such as Hawaii and Florida – wildly popular places that welcome large amounts of domestic and international travelers – have been earmarked as potential sites for expansion into the US. Barriers to such developments have included high operating costs in the US, but there may well have been a change of opinion on that front. Speaking about the issue, Javier Coll, president of ALG’s global business development group, said:
“It’s just a question of whether you can charge the fees to overcome the additional expense with labor and all that stuff, and our conclusion is yes.”
The change in opinion could well be linked to new ownership of AMResorts. The business’s parent company, the Apple Leisure Group, was recently purchased by industry giants Hyatt Hotels Corporation. With no developments currently underway, we’re not likely to see any AMResorts-branded resorts open in the US in the immediate future, but with Hyatt’s resources behind them it’s only a matter of time.
AMResorts are sorted into several distinct brands. Their Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts cater for a more health-orientated crowd, specializing in wellness and unique cultural experiences like a traditional Temazcal ceremony. For a more luxurious, romantic stay, the adult-only brand Secrets Resorts & Spas is bound to tick all the boxes, whilst Breathless Resorts & Spas cater for a younger crowd, with DJs and spin classes popular choices.
Families may prefer to stay in one of the Dreams Resorts & Spas, Sunscape Resorts & Spas or in one of their Now Resorts & Spas branded resorts, which typically come equipped with features like kids clubs and fun amenities like lazy rivers. Regardless of which brand comes to Hawaii, Florida or any location in the US, they’re bound to be just as popular there as they are around the world, with AMResorts being synonymous with great service and experiences.
Despite the setbacks the pandemic has caused to travel, AMResorts isn’t the only business looking to capitalize on the renewed appetite for travel around the world. Other notable examples in the region include Marriott working on opening a new all inclusive resort with a water park in Cancun, as well as Hilton opening its new Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya All-Inclusive Resort in Tulum recently.
