Heading to Europe Soon? These European Nations Have No Entry Restrictions

Europe is leading the world trend in removing all COVID-19 entry requirements. In the last four months, 28 nations in total have removed all entry requirements, with almost half of them being in the European continent.

Yes, this means travelers can enter with:

  • No quarantine requirements
  • No testing before or on arrival
  • No countries banned
  • No proof of vaccination

13 countries in Europe have fully removed their entry requirements, making a Euro-trip this spring and summer an easy reality, no matter where you're coming from.

1. Norway

Norway was the first European nation and the third nation worldwide to remove all entry requirements in February. All travelers visiting Norway, regardless of their vaccination status, will face zero COVID-19 entry requirements—including no passenger locator forms. Although the winter is over, Norway is a fantastic summer destination for hiking and road trips.

2. Slovenia

Slovenia became the 2nd European nation and the fourth nation worldwide to remove all entry requirements back in February. The small European nation repealed its RVT system, which stood for recovered/vaccinated/tested, in February. The Slovenian tourism board said: “The door to Slovenia is wide open for tourists and other visitors,”

3. Iceland

Iceland is a super popular destination for U.S. travelers because of its incredible scenery and convenient flight time. The nation removed all COVID-19 entry requirements in February. The Icelandic government said: “As of Friday 25 February 2022 all public restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be lifted, both domestically and at the border. Thereby no COVID-19 prevention measures will be in place at the border, regardless of whether individuals are vaccinated or unvaccinated.“

4. Ireland

In a bid to help more Ukrainian refugees enter the nation, Ireland scrapped all COVID-19 restrictions in March, becoming the 4th European nation to lift restrictions. Ireland’s Tánaiste, Leo Varadkar, said: “You will no longer need a Covid Pass to enter Ireland, but you will still need it to get into many other EU countries.” While the removal was initially spurred to help refugees, tourists from all countries are welcome to enter Ireland without restrictions.

5. Hungary

Hungary became the 5th European nation to lift all COVID-19 entry requirements in March. The Hungarian government published decree No.77 of 2022, abolishing the majority of covid mandates imposed during the pandemic last month. Budapest is an incredible European city and a popular weekend break for many European travelers.

6. Romania

7. Montenegro

Montenegro isn’t the first destination you think of when visiting Europe, yet the nation has many excellent sights and beautiful views over the adriatic. They also became the 12th nation worldwide to scrap all COVID-19 restrictions on March 11, 2022. The nation has dropped its vaccine passport requirement too; this means all travelers can enter cinemas, museums, restaurants, bars, galleries, hotels, theaters, and gyms.

8. The United Kingdom

If you’ve ever wanted to visit London, now is an excellent time to go. The United Kingdom removed all COVID-19 entry requirements in March. What’s more, the nation has ended all internal COVID-19 restrictions, including mandatory masks and the need to self-isolate if travelers test positive for COVID-19. The U.K. has more or less returned to ‘normal'.

9. Sweden

Sweden was always an outlier during the COVID-19 pandemic; unlike the rest of the world, they didn’t go into lockdown in 2020. They’re also one of the first nations worldwide to end all COVID-19 entry requirements. As the great weather starts to settle in, the nation has lifted all COVID-19 entry requirements, just in time for a Midsummer bash.

11. Denmark

Denmark joined Sweden and Norway and became one of the final Scandinavian nations to end all COVID-19 restrictions last month. Copenhagen remains an excellent city break for travelers from all corners of the globe. Furthermore, the nation has ended mandatory face mask rules, testing, and vaccine passports within the country.

12. Latvia

Latvia became the 26th nation worldwide to end all COVID-19 entry restrictions on April 2, 2022. Often overlooked, Latvia remains one of Europe’s more affordable destinations, and an excellent destination if you’re visiting Eastern Europe.

13. Slovakia

Slovakia ended all COVID-19 entry requirements for all travelers on April 6, 2022. The Slovakian Public Health Authority said: “We still recommend being cautious, following one’s health conditions and in case of Covid symptoms, contacting a GP or pediatrician,” Now tourists from all over the globe are welcome to visit, restriction-free.

As we enter April, more countries in Europe are expected to join the trend in removing all restrictions, with sights set on Swizterland and Finland as likely candidates for upcoming removals. Other nations, like Spain and Italy, have already proclaimed they are not quite yet ready to lift all restrictions just yet but may consider it starting next month.

''In a bid to help more Ukrainian refugees enter the nation....'' says Ireland. So these restrictions have never been anything to do with public health, then?

@L J, It never was. Many Red states in the US never had mandates most Blue states dropped them in March due to upcoming elections.
