As travel starts to pick up throughout 2021, many travelers are wondering what countries they can visit if they only have access to Antigen-type testing. Antigen (or rapid viral tests as they are frequently called) have some pros over the ‘industry standard’ PCR tests. Antigen tests are typically less invasive, provide results in a much faster timeframe, and are less expensive than PCR tests.

Countries That Accept Rapid Antigen Tests For Entry

With international travel (especially with layovers!) being extremely hard to navigate during the past year, Antigen tests are easier to get on the go, especially as some provide results within minutes. They have become a favorite type of test for frequent travelers throughout the pandemic.

Below we’ve listed all the countries that as of mid-2021 are currently accepting Antigen tests for entry. They may also accept other types of tests, like PCR or NAAT for example, but we’ve had multiple requests to make a list of nations allowing entry with a negative Antigen test result.

This list is dynamic. It can change very frequently, so double-check the current rules before you head to the airport. In addition, if you know of a country that allows Antigen tests for entry that is not listed, comment below so we can add it.

I wonder how much these tests cost in other countries. In the Netherlands they cost around €60 and I actually don't like to pay that just to enter another country. It would be great if the whole EU comes up with free testing... I'm gonna wait for a while before I travel.

Finland does not allow any travellers in at the moment, even EU citizens require an essential reason. Business travel is not essential.

For those few who are allowed, there is no requirement to take a test before arrival. The test can be taken free of charge at the airport on arrival in Finland.

@Kashlee Kucheran, My IATA map shows up as updated on 23APR. Anyway, we don't have a law here in Finland that enables a pretesting requirement, and there's a lot of discussion about that at the moment. This will, however, have little effect in practice as nobody is allowed in at the moment.

For those who consider visiting, there's more info on the border guard website at (link)

Please note that even if the page mentions 25MAY, the entry restrictions will very unlikely end on that day.

Mistakes

Netherlands: 72 hours PCR Test and 24h rapid test OR 24h PCR Test

Switzerland: 24h rapid test after arrival PCR Test (organised and paid by yourself)

Hi Aaron - Thanks for contributing! We actually just removed the Netherlands from the list ;)

But for Switzerland, the info is correct. Switzerland says for those who can enter: you only need to bring a negative antigen test to qualify for entry. Another test is done on arrival, but can also be an antigen, and doesn't affect travelers having to track down a PCR test before entry, so the info here stands.
